HCIM All Colleague Meeting – November 5, 2010 (Concord, CA)

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

HCIM Colleagues met at the HCIM Development Office located in Concord, Calif. on Friday, November 5, 2010 for our semi-annual All Colleague Meeting (ACM). The meeting was facilitated by Jeffrey Hall, Executive Vice President, Client Services, and Angela Reynolds, Corporate Communications Coordinator. The focus of the meeting was centered on team building with Colleagues participating in various team building events throughout the day to encourage everyone’s participation and input.

In the morning session, Michael Wilson, President & CEO, shared HCIM’s new Five Year Strategic Goal and discussed the various strategies that HCIM will implement to accomplish the goal and grow the company to “Five Million in Revenue in Five Years.” In addition, Jeffrey Hall led a session where each of the current 2010 Strategic Goals and Objectives Action Plans were reviewed, and updates were given on each action plan that is still in the process of being completed.

Another topic discussed during the meeting was HCIM’s Corporate Blog. Angela Reynolds discussed the recent HCIM website statistics and strategies for drawing more readers to the blog website. All HCIM Colleagues participated in a “Blogstorming” session where they discussed their ideas for their personal contributions to the blog, and HCIM will begin implementing some of these recommendations in future blog posts.

Once again, HCIM was pleased to welcome Katrina Gesh-Wilson of GW Operational Consulting Group, LLC (GWOCG) who led a motivational presentation based on Spencer Johnson’s book entitled “Peaks and Valleys.” During the session, Mrs. Gesh-Wilson discussed how personal peaks and valleys can be used not only in relation to HCIM but also in everyday life, and she outlined eight steps for creating change. At the end of her presentation, Mrs. Gesh-Wilson encouraged the Colleagues to express their thoughts on various peaks and valleys encountered during their work at HCIM over the past year, and she discussed ways that HCIM can use those events to propel the company to the next level.

During the afternoon session, HCIM Colleagues participated in the semi-annual “Hole-in-One Tournament” which had a “twist” (or some would say a “squeeze”?) this year. Instead of the typical golf ball which has been used in years past, the object of this event was to hit a lime into the hole using a golf putter. Amy Sipe, Client Services Consultant, beat out her competitors and emerged the winner this year with three out of four of her attempts being “hole-in-ones.”  After winning the challenge, it was overheard that Amy is not yet ready to give up her career with HCIM to join the LPGA.

Prior to the ACM meeting, all Colleagues were asked to anonymously submit an “odd job” that they had done in the past. This list of odd jobs was placed on the wall of the meeting room, and throughout the day, everyone had the opportunity to write down their guesses as to who did which odd job. After the daylong meeting, all HCIM Colleagues and their guests dined at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse located in downtown Walnut Creek, Calif., and the odd job answers were revealed. Everyone enjoyed finding out which odd jobs their Colleagues had once performed, and the most anticipated revelation was that Angela Reynolds had one time held the job of “Meteorite Rock Polisher.”

HCIM Colleagues look forward to these face-to-face meetings as it gives everyone a chance to connect with other Colleagues who they may not otherwise meet with during the year. HCIM will continue to hold online Colleague meetings via web conference bi-monthly, and another ACM will be held on March 18, 2011.

HCIM Colleagues meet via Web Conference to Discuss Strategic Planning

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

As part of HCIM’s ongoing effort to maintain an open line of communication with its Colleagues, HCIM Colleagues met on Friday, September 17, 2010, to discuss HCIM’s current strategic plan.  The meeting was facilitated by Amy Sipe, Client Services Professional Consultant, and Gregory Merica, Director of Product Management Integration. The Online Colleague Meeting (OCM) allowed the Colleagues to review the material presented and participate in the discussions and planning.

Michael Wilson, President and CEO of HCIM, opened the meeting by talking about HCIM’s 5-year plan, including plans for strategic business developments.  With the promotion of Jeffrey Hall to EVP of Client Services, the effected changes to the HCIM organization chart and approval matrix were also reviewed and discussed.  In addition, Colleagues reviewed the current Strategic Plan, and provided updates on several key objectives.

HCIM routinely encourages Colleagues to review the quarterly financial reports, and Colleagues are sent a copy of the Strategic Financial Reserves Measurements report each month for review and comment.  During the web conference, Jeffrey Hall, EVP of Client Services, discussed HCIM’s current financial status, and indicated that HCIM has seen significant increases in net income over the last 12 months.  After the financial review, each Business Unit Director was asked to provide a list of their current action items, which highlighted each unit’s top priorities for the next 30 days.

The meeting ended with an invitation to all Colleagues to express their interest in topics for future meetings.  HCIM strongly feels that these meetings should be forward-focused and should center on items that are most important to its Colleagues.

The next face-to-face All Colleague Meeting (ACM) will be held in Concord, Calif. on November 5, 2010.

HCIM’s family of Colleagues would like to take this opportunity to thank Mike, Jeff, and Tom for their 10 years of dedication and service to HCIM. HCIM Colleagues meet to set Direction for Expansion of Product Expertise and Services

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

One of HCIM’s strategic goals is to “sustain an environment built on trust and integrity, which fosters creative thinking, empowered decision-making and innovative solutions.” As a modern virtual company with colleagues spread out across the country, HCIM’s Leadership Team has made it a priority to host quarterly web conferences and semi-annual face-to-face strategic planning sessions, which allow Colleagues to connect with their extended HCIM family.

HCIM’s colleague meetings generally focus on business unit and financial updates, as well as goal-setting for future opportunities. In addition, Colleague achievements such as anniversaries, certifications, and special contributions are recognized. The most important aspect of HCIM’s All Colleague Meetings is that they allow Colleagues to give valuable input and feedback on the future direction of HCIM.

HCIM’s Leadership Team and Colleagues joined together for an All Colleague Meeting web conference on Friday, June 25, 2010. After announcing that HCIM will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on July 14, HCIM’s President and CEO, Michael Wilson, opened the meeting by discussing the original vision of HCIM’s co-founders and giving a brief historical overview of how HCIM was formed, including the development of HCIM’s product line. He took the opportunity to reiterate HCIM’s primary goal, which is to build a reputation based on confidence, trust, and integrity, and he encouraged all Colleagues to be forward-thinking in their day-to-day activities.

HCIM’s Leadership Team is committed to long-term financial stability for HCIM and its Colleagues, so they take the necessary steps to maintain revenue projections and manage expenses. They also maintain open lines of communication with Colleagues regarding HCIM’s financial standing. To that end, Jeffrey Hall, SVP and Group Director of Consulting Services, provided an update on HCIM’s financial status, including a review of HCIM’s year-to-date financial statement and fiscal year 2010 budget forecast. Colleagues were encouraged to ask questions about HCIM’s financial direction.

Meeting facilitators Thomas Streeter, SVP and Director of Technical Development, and Jimmy Williams, Business Analyst, conducted a work session on HCIM’s strategic goals, relating to the expansion of product expertise and services. Colleagues were asked to provide their feedback on marketplace research and criteria for pursuing new and existing opportunities. The Colleagues’ recommendations will be implemented by the Leadership Team, and an update will be given at the next All Colleague Meeting being held via web conference in September 2010.

In response to Colleague questions about how healthcare reform will affect HCIM and the managed care industry, Michael Wilson reviewed several new initiatives, including Accountable Care Organizations, PACE, Medicare Advantage, and Mandated Benefits.

As the meeting drew to a close, it was announced that the next face-to-face All Colleague Meeting will be held in Walnut Creek, Calif. on November 5, 2010.

HCIM Welcomes Newest Colleague, Andrew Link

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

HCIM would like to take this opportunity to introduce our newest colleague, Andrew Link, who has accepted our offer of employment as a Client Services Associate Consultant. Andrew has over 11 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with eight years specializing in implementation and configuration. He possesses a wide range of healthcare industry knowledge that encompasses all Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial lines of business. Over the years, Andrew has been involved in a number of roles that include process improvement, claims adjudication, auditing, training, and configuration design. Additionally, Andrew has worked with several consulting firms and business process outsourcing companies, including Allied Solutions, Cornerstone Information Technologies, Schaller Anderson Inc., and Motorola Inc.

Jeffrey Hall, Sr. Vice President and Consulting Services Group Director said, “I have personally worked with Andrew on several projects. His demonstrated knowledge of payer systems, experience in the managed care marketplace, and professional demeanor clearly made him stand out among the sea of other consultants. We’re privileged to have him on our team.”

Andrew will work with HCIM’s consulting group to provide planning and development, implementation, and documentation services. As a Client Services Associate Consultant, Andrew will enroll in TriZetto’s QNXT Professional Certified Service Program. Upon completion of the extensive coursework, Andrew will earn a QNXT Professional Certification. In addition to Andrew’s work with the Consulting Services team, he will be providing valuable input to our Product Integration and Technical Development teams.

Andrew added, “Joining the HCIM team was a positive decision from multiple ends. HCIM provides an environment that’s missing from most employers in this industry. Having been associated with various staffing firms and forging through the various pitfalls associated with being a contract hire, I knew that I wanted to be a part of a company that provided career opportunity and stability for the long haul. I look forward to being a part of HCIM’s continued success!”

Andrew is currently working with a new client on the implementation and configuration of their ikaClaims payer core transaction system. We are pleased to welcome him to our team and look forward to many successful business ventures together.
